Rocket STL generator

Retro rockets, multistage launchers and shuttle-style stacks that stand on their own fins, from 60 to 240 mm tall. They print upright without supports, and a multi-colour rocket opens in the slicer already split by filament.

3D-printed rockets on a light background: a multi-colour retro rocket on fins, a multi-colour multistage rocket, a multi-colour shuttle-style launch stack and a rocket planter

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a rocket

Classic retro rocket, multistage rocket or shuttle-style stack — 11 ready-made starting points in the library, from an 80 mm desk toy to a 240 mm multistage rocket.

  2. 2

    Choose what it is for

A display piece, a hidden storage rocket that comes apart at the waist, an open-top pencil cup or a planter that drains through the engine nozzle.

  3. 3

    Adjust the details

Height, an ogive or cone nose, 3 or 4 fins, 0 to 3 portholes and panel lines, then single colour or multi-colour (AMS). The preview updates as you change them.

  4. 4

    Download and print

STL for a single colour. For multi-colour, the 3MF keeps each colour as its own part, so Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer opens it ready to assign AMS slots.

The 11 rockets in the library

Every entry is a set of starting numbers for the same parametric rocket, so anything you see here can be changed to any of the others.

Retro rocket
150 mm tall on 3 swept fins, with 2 portholes and panel lines, in a single colour.
Retro rocket — multi-colour
180 mm on 4 fins with 3 portholes, split into white body, red nose and fins, blue windows and a grey nozzle.
Mini rocket (desk toy)
80 mm, cone nose, 3 fins and 1 porthole — a desk toy, party favour or cake topper.
Rocket storage box (screw top)
180 mm, unscrews at the waist on a printed thread; 2 parts.
Rocket gift box (press fit)
150 mm in 2 halves that push together, for a gift card, cash or a small present.
Rocket pencil holder
170 mm with an open top and a 2 mm wall, for a kids’ desk.
Rocket planter
160 mm on 4 fins, open top, with water draining through the floor and out of the nozzle.
Multistage rocket
200 mm, 3 stages with interstage adapters, a payload fairing and 4 fins.
Multistage rocket — multi-colour
240 mm, white stages, dark interstages and nozzle, red fairing and fins.
Space shuttle stack
A generic shuttle-style stack — orbiter, external tank and 2 boosters — on a launch pad, 180 mm tall.
Space shuttle stack — multi-colour
200 mm, orange tank, white orbiter and boosters, black nose and pad for a 3-colour print.

Multi-colour without painting

Choose multi-colour and the rocket is cut into bands at the nose, the nozzle and the stage joints, each band a separate part. The fins take the accent colour and, on the multi-colour models, each porthole gets its own window part, so the colours come from the filament rather than from painting in the slicer.

The retro rocket uses 4 filaments (white, red, blue and grey), the multistage rocket and the shuttle-style stack 3 each — a fit for a single AMS. Any rocket also prints well in a single colour.

Printing a rocket on a 0.4 mm nozzle

Every rocket prints upright, standing on its fins, without supports: down-facing surfaces such as the boat tail, the nozzle bell, the porthole bezels and the undersides of the fins are kept within 40° of vertical. PLA is ideal for display rockets, pencil cups and planters.

A 0.2 mm layer height, 3 or 4 perimeters and 15–20% infill suits almost everything here.

Height
60 to 240 mm; check the tallest setting against your printer’s build height.
Wall
1.2 to 3 mm for the storage, pencil-cup and planter versions.
Joint clearance
0.3 to 0.6 mm for the storage rocket, 0.4 mm by default; raise it if the thread or spigot is tight.
Storage halves
Both halves print upright side by side, or print the lower half or the nose half on its own.

Questions

How big can the rockets be?

Any height from 60 to 240 mm. The library starts from 80 mm for the mini rocket and goes up to 240 mm for the multi-colour multistage rocket.

Do the rockets need supports?

No. They print upright on their fins, and every downward-facing surface is kept within 40° of vertical, so nothing needs supports.

How many colours do I need for the multi-colour rockets?

The retro rocket is split into 4 colours and the multistage rocket and shuttle-style stack into 3, so a single AMS covers them. Every rocket also works as a single-colour print.

Can I use the rocket planter for a real plant?

Yes — it is sized for a succulent or cactus, and water drains through the floor and out of the engine nozzle. Stand it on a saucer.

Can I sell the rockets I print?

Printed items are covered by the commercial licence from the Pro plan upward, and the library is in the Ultra plan. The digital files themselves may not be redistributed.

Which plan includes the rockets?

They are part of the parametric object library in the Ultra plan, which also includes everything in Pro.
