Christmas decorations to 3D print

Openwork baubles, star toppers that fit your tree's tip, a glowing village and a box of flat ornaments — 34 decorations you size yourself. Everything prints without supports.

Four 3D printed Christmas decorations on a light background: a red openwork lattice bauble, a gold 3D crossed-star tree topper, a Christmas village house with a snowy roof and a white classic snowflake ornament

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a decoration

34 starting points in the library: 15 flat ornaments, 4 openwork 3D baubles, 2 tree-topper stars, 4 LED-tealight village buildings and 9 Christmas trees.

  2. 2

    Fit it to your tree

Set a bauble from 50 to 110 mm across, a topper's socket from 8 to 32 mm to slip over the tip of your tree, or a flat ornament from 40 to 120 mm tall with a loop hole from 2.5 to 6 mm.

  3. 3

    Check the preview

Turn it in the 3D view. Before an export it is audited for holes in the surface, edges shared by more than 2 faces and walls too thin to print.

  4. 4

    Download and print

STL for 1 colour. Where a second colour is its own part — an ornament's raised details, the snow on a village roof — the 3MF keeps it separate for a multi-material printer.

The decorations

These are the 3D decorations: shapes with depth that stand, hang or glow. For an ornament with a name on it, see the personalised ornament maker; for biscuits, the Christmas cookie cutters.

A village that glows

The house, cottage, church and lantern are open-bottomed shells that sit over a 39 mm LED tealight, so the windows light up on a windowsill or a mantel. Use an LED tealight, never a flame. The tealight size goes from 36 to 60 mm, and the inside is always at least the tealight plus 6 mm each way.

Scale a building from 100 to 160 % to make a street of different sizes. Turn on "Snow as its own part" and the roof snow prints white while the house prints in its own colour.

Printing with a 0.4 mm nozzle in PLA

No supports, on any model. Baubles print upright as 1 closed openwork piece: every opening has a pointed top and the inside closes in a cone under the cap. The topper prints upright on its socket, which narrows 15% towards the top to grip the tree. Village buildings have vertical walls, roofs pitched at 50° or more and pointed-arch windows. Flat ornaments lie on the bed.

Flat ornaments are 2.4 mm thick with a 0.8 mm raised layer. For 2 colours on a single-nozzle printer, add a filament change at 2.4 mm — the start of layer 13 at 0.2 mm layers. A 0.2 mm layer height, 3 or 4 perimeters and 15–20% infill suits the rest; silk and glitter filaments make striking baubles and stars.

Questions

Will the topper fit my tree?

Measure the tip of your tree and set the socket diameter to match, from 8 to 32 mm; the socket length goes from 25 to 90 mm. The default is a 16 mm socket, 50 mm long.

Do the baubles need supports?

No. Each bauble is 1 piece that prints upright on its drop finial or flat foot, with every opening shaped to print without supports.

Can I print the ornaments in 2 colours?

Yes. On a single-nozzle printer, change filament at the top of the base layer, 2.4 mm by default. With an AMS or other multi-material unit, turn on "Second colour as its own part" and the 3MF keeps the raised layer separate.

Can I put a candle in the village houses?

No — use an LED tealight only. The buildings are designed to sit over a 39 mm LED tealight, and the size can be changed to fit yours.

Can I sell the decorations I print?

Printed items are covered by the commercial licence from the Pro plan upward, and the library is in the Ultra plan. The digital files themselves may not be redistributed.

Which plan includes these decorations?

They are part of the parametric object library in the Ultra plan, which also includes everything in Pro.
